How to see your missing assignments in Canvas
Canvas has no single screen showing missing work across all your courses. Open each course, choose Grades, and look for the Missing label beside an assignment. The Dashboard list shows what is coming up rather than what is already late, so the per-course Grades page is the reliable route.
Canvas does not have one screen that shows every missing assignment across every course. That is the honest answer, and it is why this is such a common question. There are two routes that get you most of the way, and both are per-course or partial.

Route one: the Grades page in each course
This is the reliable one. Open a course, choose Grades, and Canvas labels anything you did not submit as Missing. The label is applied by the assignment status, so it catches work you never opened as well as work you started and abandoned.

Route two: the Dashboard list view
The Dashboard can show a to-do list of what is coming up, which is useful for what is due next but is built around upcoming work rather than work already past due. Treat it as a deadline view, not a missing-work view.
Why there is no all-courses view
Canvas organises everything by course, and the missing status lives on an assignment inside a course. There is no student-facing screen that crosses courses, which is why the answer in the Canvas community forums is to check each class one at a time.
What to check after you have the list
A missing assignment is not automatically worth doing. Its weight in the category and how much of the term is left decide how much it moves your grade, and a large missing assignment usually outranks several small ones that are merely due sooner.
