Class Companion is free for teachers, and its plans page sells school and district partnerships. You did not choose it and you cannot change it. SchoolOps is bought by the student, works whether or not your school has adopted anything, and connects to your own accounts.
What Class Companion is built to do
It gives instant rubric-aligned feedback on assignments a teacher created, and it allows retakes. Teachers use it because it multiplies how much feedback they can give. If what you need is another attempt at an assignment with feedback in between, that is exactly what it is for and it does it well.
It also looks for AI writing
A significant part of the product detects work that was not written by the student: pasted text, similar responses across a class, typing anomalies, and leaving the tab. This is worth knowing before you paste anything into it from anywhere.
What SchoolOps does instead

Is Class Companion something I can buy?
No. It is free for teachers, and full use including the LMS connection comes through a school or district partnership. Students join a class a teacher created, using a join code.
Does Class Companion detect AI writing?
Yes. Its published features include pasted-text detection, similar-response detection, typing anomalies and detecting when you copy and leave the tab. Their own site describes this as response integrity.
Can I use SchoolOps if my teacher uses Class Companion?
They are separate products doing separate jobs. SchoolOps works from your own connected accounts across every class, and you review everything it drafts before it is submitted, which is a condition of using it.
Which one should I be using?
