Does retrying a Wayground quiz hurt your score?
No. If you answer the same question across several attempts, only your highest-scoring response counts toward accuracy. The large number moving during a live game is a speed-weighted session score, not your grade, and accuracy is what your teacher report shows.
Wayground shows two numbers that look like the same thing and are not. Knowing which one your teacher sees changes how you play it, and it is the difference between rushing for points and getting the answers right.

Points during the game are not your grade
The score climbing while you play is gamified and weighted by speed, so answering fast is worth more points than answering carefully. It exists to make the game feel like a game, and it is not what gets recorded.
Accuracy is what the report shows
Your teacher sees accuracy: how many questions you got right. Speed does not enter it. That means the optimal way to play for your grade is different from the way that wins the leaderboard.
Retries take your best answer
Where a question is answered across more than one attempt, the highest-scoring response is the one counted. Trying again cannot lower what you already earned, so a second attempt has no downside for accuracy.
The rename
Wayground is the platform formerly called Quizizz. Older guides still use the old name and mostly still describe the same mechanics, which is worth knowing when the help you find does not match the interface you are looking at.
